In March, the World Trade Organization joined Antigua and Barbuda in the drawn-out dispute between the US and the US over foreign Internet gaming companies' access to the US domestic market. The WTO then ruled that the United States had not followed the organisation's 2005 decision that it must ease a number of restrictions against foreign-based Internet gaming companies. As a result, in December the WTO granted Antigua and Barbuda the right to impose trade sanctions on the United States at a value equivalent to USD 21 million per year.
