According to ezinereligion, in 2007, Bahrain had an estimated population of over 700,000 people, composed of multiple ethnic groups including Bahrainis and Arabs. The official language was Arabic. The economy was largely based on services and industry, as well as oil and natural gas production. In terms of foreign relations, Bahrain had close ties with its neighbors in the region such as Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. It also maintained diplomatic relations with several other countries such as the United States, China and Japan.
