Cass County, Iowa is located in the southwestern corner of the state, and is bordered by Pottawattamie County to the east, Adair County to the south, and Guthrie County to the west. The county seat is Atlantic and the county has a population of over 13,000 people. According to theinternetfaqs.com, Cass County was established in 1851 and was named after General Lewis Cass who served as Secretary of War under President Andrew Jackson. The county had a rich history of farming with many settlers coming from Germany, Ireland and Norway.
