Lincoln County, New Mexico is located in the south-central part of the state, bordering Texas and Mexico. It is home to a population of approximately 20,000 people and covers an area of over 5,800 square miles. According to, Lincoln County has a long and varied history that dates back to the early 1800s when it was part of Mexico. The county seat is Carrizozo, which was established in 1898. Carrizozo is a small town with a population of about 700 people and features several historic buildings including the Old Lincoln Courthouse which was built in 1899.
