According to ezinereligion, in 2007, Qatar had a population of approximately 886,000 people and its economy was largely driven by oil and gas production, banking, finance and tourism. The country had strong diplomatic relations with other countries in the region and beyond, particularly the United States, United Kingdom and Saudi Arabia. In terms of politics, Qatar has a constitutional monarchy in place with an Emir as head of state and government. Legislative power is vested solely in the legislature.
