According to ezinereligion, in 2007, Tanzania had a population of around 42 million people and a GDP of $25.7 billion. The economy was mainly based on agriculture, tourism, and mining. Tanzania had strong ties with its African neighbors as well as China and India. Politically, the country was under the rule of President Jakaya Kikwete who came to power in 2005 through democratic elections. In terms of foreign relations, Tanzania maintained good relations with most countries in Africa while also maintaining strong ties with China and India due to their economic investments in the country.
