Video Premiere: Peaches – “Free Pussy Riot”

That the Russian Band pussy Riot jail sits, is wrong, almost ridiculous. The three punk musicians had been detained during a Government-critical anti-Putin action; the spurious reason: „ hooliganism “. Numerous international artists since then showed flag and campaigned publicly for the release of Maria Aljochina, Nadezhda Tolokonnikowa and Ekaterina Samuzewitsch.

Last week also peaches in the ranks of the celebrity pussy riot supporter joined and called for participation in her music video. The corresponding track “free pussy riot” a few days previously in cooperation with Simonne Jones arose. Quite a few of you were shooting. On August 17, the day of the sentencing, which will then show how we together can make a difference. But no matter how this story will end: it never was for nothing. Participation is always better than just stand. It seems that we would understand that.

With other artists and activists peaches also calls on change.org to sign a petition for the release of pussy riot. Here you read the request and justification:

Hi, I’m peaches. Together with Simonne Jones and many other musicians, artists, activists, and creative, we employ us for the release of the Russian punk band PUSSY RIOT. To support of the pussy riots, we have written a song extra! The video is most published the 15th August on youtube.

But this alone is not enough – you need to act now!

Here the reasons why: due to a concert in March 2012 against Kremlin Chief Vladimir Putin, lead singer of the Band pussy riot threaten three years in prison. The song “Punk Prayer” is and remains an expression of the freedom of expression and the prosecution of civil disobedience and the resulting imprisonment of three women are perceived by world public opinion as a cruel act of repression.

If Russia wants to be a member of a modern, globalized, international community, it must adhere to the principles, that binds us together as free Nations. But above all, Russia must maintain the freedom as the highest good. The public discourse is one of the most important elements of a free society. If Russia carried out the verdict against the three women, this is another proof that Russia’s political elites mock once more the fundamental rights and their own Constitution.

We, the citizens, and citizens of the world, call for the immediate release of pussy riot. The verdict is to be announced on August 17 – let us now show our support pussy riot!

Maia, Naadezhda, and Eiaterina are victims of a political show trial of the Russian authorities and the Russian Orthodox Church, with a single purpose: control of Russian citizens is to be gewart by intimidation. Show trials like this supposed to silence artists, creative and activists in Russia.

But we are not idle to see. Peaches, Simonne Jones and you! Freedom for pussy riot!
